My Sweetie

Before the month of February is over I need to write about my Valentine's Day, which was wonderful. I came home from work that day and look what was waiting for me:

Heart-shaped cookies.

An arugula salad and a sun dried tomato and olive tart
(I wish I had a picture of the tart--it was beautiful)
and flowers.

Homemade dulce de leche over vanilla ice cream.

After our dinner we went to a birthday party that was supposed to happen on the Thursday the snow storm hit. It was rescheduled for Valentine's Day. It was a real change of pace because we don't usually get out on weeknights. Some of our high school friends had a band back in high school and they reunited for one night only. Henry was with us, so we didn't stay late, but we learned a few things about him: 1)He likes live music and getting on stage, and 2) He loves to watch pinball. Bright lights, a silver ball and noise--what's not to like?

Identical Cousins?

Henry and Karl in semi-matching sleepwear.

On Saturday night we kept my brother's son Karl for a few hours. This is the second time I have kept both boys at the same time. It was really pretty easy because Henry loves Karl and Karl is quite entertained by Henry's antics. I had been telling Henry that Karl was coming over and he kept saying Karl, which is one of the few words that Henry can say. Henry smiled big when Karl arrived and he gave him several hugs and kisses. All went well until bedtime. I thought putting them both down at the same time in Henry's room would be a good idea. (In theory it sounds good, but it wasn't two minutes later that both of them were screaming their lungs out! Not such a great idea.) After I removed Karl from Henry's room things calmed down quickly and both boys fell asleep. Sweet dreams.

Louise & Erik

My cousin's wedding was fabulous! They got married in a beautiful old church from 1500-something. The reception was lots of fun with singing and great food. The theme was northern Sweden, so the menu included reindeer meat, salmon, and cloudberries. Here are some of my favorite pictures (which I stole from Kristina and Louise's flickr.)

You can see how beautiful the church is.

All the cousins.

Louise and Erik have a new baby--of the kitten variety!
