Take Pleasure

Take pleasure in the snow days--that's what I'm going to do. I loved sleeping in, sledding with my two guys until our fingers almost froze, baking banana muffins, playing board games... And I just got word that there will be another snow day tomorrow. Woo hoo! Here's to a long weekend!

How to Know if You're Boring

Being a teacher I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on this, but maybe not. I found that I am guilty of some of these. Especially the one about dreams.

In order to determine what my students already knew about the American Civil War, I gave a pretest on Monday. These are the questions and the answers I got:

Who fought in the war?
John F. Kennedy
Pilgrims
George Washington

What were they fighting about?
Independence from British

When was the Civil War?
2005-2009
1400s

Where did the fighting take place?
Asia
Europe

Tomorrow is the post-test. I'm looking forward to some less entertaining answers.

The Bounty

Happy little boys with toys:

My mom had just mentioned
that kids are not supposed to ride on the back...
I guess Henry understands this rule now.

Trampoline! Wow!

Your Beard is Falling Off, Santa

We had a huge, fun Christmas dinner at my parents house. I have no idea how many people were there, but it was a bunch. That night after the festivities were over Santa arrived. Last year Karl & Kaden were frightened of Santa. Especially Kaden. But this year everyone was pretty happy to see him. (Although I think Kaden was still a little scared at first.) Santa made Karl promise that he would not use the pacifier any more in exchange for a really cool truck. Karl is paci-free thus far. Go Karl! I wish Santa had asked Henry not to argue with his parents. Maybe next year.

Oops, Santa! What happened to your beard?

Santa is a Generous Guy

I'm gonna have to post this in shifts because we had so many Christmas activities. Just a quick rundown: Christmas Eve-dinner at Erik & Karin's, Christmas morning-our house, Christmas brunch-Chad's family, Christmas dinner & night-my family. Whew! Santa and/or gifts awaited at each location. Henry liked each and every gift he opened. So much, in fact, that we had to keep prodding him to continue. He wanted to open the package, get the toy out, put batteries in and play with it instead of opening the next one. He finally asked if he could save some for later.

Christmas morning at our house

Henry loves Olivia & Curious George books

They are so beautiful when they are working, but I really hate Christmas tree lights. You can see that a string went out in the middle of the tree. Those have since been thrown in the trash. Of course, they were working when I put them on. They are the old kind that if one goes out, they all go out. I feel sure that technology moved forward for tree lights since then. Thinking about getting all new lights next year. Does anyone have LED lights or suggestions on color or style?

Seeing that Santa filled his stocking was the most exciting part.
