Silver Lining

Werner, Irma and baby Kaden.

The ice storm had a silver lining; we were able to spend some time together with Karin's parents before her father passed away. All of us stayed with my parents for about a week. Henry got really close to "Oma & Opa," which is grandma and grandpa in German. Henry started by trying to call them Irma and Werner, their first names, but that was too hard. Oma and Opa is what stuck. (That's what Karl and Kaden will call them.) Please keep Karin and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Word to the Wise...

It's probably not a great idea to wander the halls of your child's school in Tweety Bird pajamas, a house coat, and slippers during conference week.

We're Back

Our power is back! Last night was our first night in our home since Tuesday last week. We still have some lines down in the back yard. Not sure what they are and nobody seems to care. We have called SWEPCO and Cox. I hope we find out soon if they are dangerous so we can start allowing the dogs in the back. My windshield is fixed and because I have windshield insurance I only have to pay $100. I guess that's not too bad.

Still No Power

This is really getting old. We have been without power for almost a week now. The only good news I have heard today is that we may not have to make up the school days we missed. Since Obama has declared Arkansas a disaster area they might just waive the four days instead of cutting in to our summer break.
